The Sports Clubs

Church Stretton Town is home to 5 football clubs and one cricket club, all of whom would benefit from the proposed new pavilion.

The football clubs cater for all age groups from 5 years old to adults with both male and female teams available. The cricket club has a successful league team which plays on Saturdays and also a Sunday side which plays friendly matches. A colts team has recently been formed.

Church Stretton Town FC

Church Stretton Town FC is the most senior team in the town. They were formed in xxxx and play their football in the Sports Jam Shropshire County League.

Church Stretton Old Boys FC

Church Stretton Old Boys were formed in 2005 and the club is designed as a progression path for the youth teams in Church Stretton, once players become too old to play for the youth teams. They play their football in the Shrewsbury Sunday League and have just been promoted to the first division.

Church Stretton Magpies FC

Magpies FC were formed in 1974 and are the oldest youth football team in the town. They currently run 5 teams and also cater for girls football. They are a Charter Standard club and play their football either in the South Shropshire Junior Football League or the Shropshire Junior Football League. They also run a crèche for beginner's football lessons.

Church Stretton Royals FC

The Royals were formed in 2007 and have one team. They will play at U14s level in the Shropshire Junior Football League in the 2009-10 season. They were awarded Charter Standard status in 2008. website

Stretton Red Rovers FC

Stretton Red Rovers FC were formed in 2005 as a 'family like' football club designed to fill a gap in the provision of matchplay opportunities in the locality of Church Stretton. They currently run 5 teams and play their football in the South Shropshire Junior Football League. website

Church Stretton Cricket Club

The cricket club have a Saturday side that plays league cricket in the Manby Bowdler Shropshire Cricket League, and also a Sunday side that plays friendlies against other clubs in the county. They have also recently started a colts side and are hoping to gain the ECB Clubmark standard in the near future.
