Russell's Meadow
in Church Stretton is home to six sports clubs,
all of whom need somewhere to change and meet
prior to and after their games.
The existing
wooden pavilion was built more than 50 years ago
and is now outmoded and outdated. The building
has had to be patched up on numerous occasions,
the most recent being the re-cladding of the
exterior.
Over the years
many other refurbishments and repairs have been
made. However the volunteers who have carried
out this work have been severely restricted by
the state of the building.
The existing
pavilion is managed by a committee that
comprises of all the sports clubs that use the
facility. They meet regularly to discuss all
aspects of the pavilion and the pitches outside.
Over the last few years the committee have come
to the conclusion that it is no longer cost
effective to continue to maintain the existing
pavilion. Therefore a plan was put into motion
to develop a new facility.
The plan has
been two years in the making and we are now at
the stage where planning permission has been
granted for the construction of a brand new
pavilion, to be sited in the south west corner
of the playing fields. |
